Streetfishing

If someone had told me in 2015 that in the Wizard family there would be a lighter and more comfortable rod than the Wizard Drop Shot, I would have laughed. I didn’t think that this standard could be enhanced.

The designers, however, thought it otherwise, and they made a brave attempt to create a new fishing rod. To make the handiest fishing rod ever, they used only the best raw materials. Then, they altered the structure of the handle and put some extra guides on the body.

Just what the doctor ordered: Wizard Streetfishing spinning rod from the UL category

As its name suggests, you can just pick up the latest Wizard rod whenever you feel like it, and go wandering around nearby waters. In Hungary there are hundreds of small villages and towns that are full of fishing spots. And yes, sometimes you can gain the most exciting experiences right in the middle of the city. Streetfishing offers the easiest and most comfortable way to achieve our aims. UL spinning has never been more enjoyable. Let’s see why.

The city of Székesfehérvár has an excellent location. There are a lot of fishing spots, where I can get by bike.

As I’ve mentioned in the introduction, the Streetfishing takes after the classical Wizard rods. It is the lightest and slimmest rod of the family. Only the Perch Blade, which is made from IM12 material, and the Wizard Skill have similar weights.

Ultralight UL rods indeed: Wizard Streetfishing rods designed for light and UL spinning The ergonomic handgrip is above the reel seat. It is a combination of a rubber compound, which is similar to cork, and an EVA coating. This equals durability and unique design.

It is really not easy to produce a good UL spinning rod. Energofish has made a name for itself as a professional spinning rod manufacturer. Just think about the Perch Blade Series or the Excalibur Bass, which was followed by the Wizard Skill and Drop Shot rods. They’re all excellent rods, but the Streetfishing beats them all. The abbreviated handle has been remade. Although the number of guides has been increased, the thickness of the IM10 blank is the same. The handle of the 210 cm rod has remained 8,5 mm in diameter!

Abbreviated handles play a key role in casting and playing the fish. The special design of the butt section gives a unique appearance to the Streetfishing. The etched metal cap says a lot about the rod.

The handle of Streetfishing not only looks great, but it also provides support for our forearm.

At first the weight of the rod was noticeable. It was really light, but of course I didn’t mind this at all!

I got everything I need: a tight backbone and an amazing action when casting and setting the hook. All this with less weight.

The design of the reel seat also includes some innovation. The locking nut squeezes the reel into the integrated reel seat, so we can decide whether we want to grab the handgrip or the part of the rod above the reel foot. Trust me, both options provide comfortable hold.

The integrated reel seat of the Streetfishing fits into our hand. Super safe and comfortable holding

The Streetfishing, as all the other members of this category, fits 1000-2000 size reels no heavier than 280 gm. This size and weight can balance the rod, and will make casting easy and accurate. Holding the rod over long hours of fishing is fairly comfortable.

Perfect weight ratio between the rod and the 2000 size Banax (260 gm)

And now comes all the data based on measurements. The Streetfishing is available is three size categories in 212-228-248 cm lengths. The shortest version of the family weighs no more than 115 gm, which is exactly 15 gm less than the Drop Shot rod with similar length. No one can deny that this is a great achievement.

The 212 cm long Streetfishing with amazing data

Moving up the scale, I registered an increase of 8 gm in each size category, so the longer versions had plus 8 gm. Thus, the 228 cm rod weighs 123 gm, and the longest 248 cm model weighs 131 gm! Even the 240 cm long Perch Blade, which is made from IM12 carbon, couldn’t beat this data.

On these top of the range rods we can find single footed quality SIC guides. The special guides are super light; the large number of guides might be a bit unusual at first

The 11 silicon carbide guides are distributed precisely on the two-section blank. This is very important because if you’re fishing for perch or chub, you might use thin, 0,16 mm monos. A rod with evenly distributed guides can easily subdue the strikes of fish, which relieves the tension of the line. As a consequence, you can catch big fish on thin lines too!

The 2-12 gm casting weight of the Streetfishing is ideal for average size UL lures. Compared to the 2-8 gm Skill, we can slightly increase the weight of our bait. With this rod, even the smallest lures can be cast well. The solid tip launches light topwater baits (2-3 gm) like a catapult.

The guides on the solid tip are abrasion-resistant. Thanks to their arrangement, neither the beautiful parabola of the rod nor the line is broken.

I admit, I’ve tried the Streetfishing with my favorite 4-5 cm Salmo wobbler too.

Retrieving the Butcher, 2-3 cm Hornets and the Minnow was smooth and easy. Among the wobblers the medium diving Sparky Shad, with which I caught my huge chub, should be the limit. The rod detects every tiny little movement of the bait. You can literally feel their wobble in your hands. Naturally, the Streetfishing did a great job with smaller plastics too. Mann’s and L&K plastics put on 2-3 gm jigheads seemed to be a good match.

My magnificient asp from the stream. It caught the Sparky before the pikes did. My heart was pounding with excitement.

Quite an adventure for the chub. It got back to where it came from only with a few minor injuries.

The Tiny weighs 3 gm, and it can be cast and retrieved very well with all three rods. A majestic chub caught before the ban
Both the Tiny and the 2,5 gm diving Hornet look great. What’s more they’re also quite efficient. You can expect such practical solutions from rods of the highest quality.

The hook keeper is one of the small but practical thoughtfulness of the rod. Fortunately, it is not too close to the handgrip, so accidental injuries can be avoided.

You can carry single or treble hooks in the hook keeper. Finally, we can take a look at the beautiful curve of the Streetfishing. This is a highly professional rod that I can recommend to everybody!

The technique of float fishing has always been one of my favorite methods. In my childhood (like many others), I caught my first fish with this float method, and to this day, I enjoy using rods without reels. At the FeHoVa exhibition, I encountered CARP EXPERT's new float rods for the first time, and when I held the model named SCOBAR in my hand, I immediately felt that it was an excellent tool... Gone are the days when I chased fish with a bamboo rod on the banks of small channels, then...
