In my previous article, I mentioned that Drop Shot rods are one of my favorites, and their performance cannot be overestimated. This might sound biased, but trust me; I know what I’m talking about. After months of using these rods, I can safely say that they satisfy all my needs when it comes to ultra light spinning. Fishing with little soft baits cannot be more enjoyable, and, of course, let’s not forget about wobblers either.

I’ve fished a few hundred hours with this rod, but it is still as good as new. The handle, the handgrip, the guides and the joints are all in perfect condition, although I’ve been using it since April. It has never let me down in extreme fishing situations. It has proven that it is the number one spinning rod without doubts. The result of its impressive performance is the large number of chubs that I’ve caught with it.

Similarly to Wizard Classic Jig, the Drop Shot is also made of IM8 carbon. However, its blank is thinner. Its diameter above the handgrip is 8,5 mm. Despite the thin blank, the rod is unbelievably fast and stiff. The last third of the tip is soft, which helps you cast little lures with great precision. This feature of the rod comes in handy for me, as I often fish in a narrow stream. With my Drop Shot rod, I can cast little soft baits and wobblers right under the bushes and trees that grow along the shore.
 You have to be accurate enough, otherwise you’re in trouble. Your hook gets stuck in the bush, your line breaks, and your lure is gone. Besides, you have to say goodbye to the tranquility of the place. |
You can balance the 2,10 m Drop Shot with a 1000-3000 size reel. Using a reel of this size, you’ll have perfect balance centered at the middle of the handgrip.

 Using this setting, you can hold your rod and cast with less effort. It makes every minute of spinning a pleasure. |
The nine, ultra light silicon carbide guides distribute strain evenly throughout the rod. Its power in reserve when playing fish is astonishing. It can cushion the strikes of big chubs even in the last seconds. I often though that I didn’t have a prayer of landing gigantic 40-50 cm chubs with my 0,16 mono. However, the Drop Shot could tackle this problem easily. It could be both strict and permissive depending on the situation.
