PVA bag fishing is gaining increasing popularity due to its efficiency and simplicity, as it effectively overcomes challenges like long casting distances or obstacles such as snags and stumps in the water.

Peter Micula was one of the first to recognise the potential of this method. Drawing on decades of competition and fishing experience, he approached this fishing technique from a unique perspective. This allowed for the testing and perfecting of innovative ideas, resulting in products now available in The One bait range.

The One Amino Bag Pellet Mix from Hungarian bait producer Energofish is the result of several years of collaboration, inspired by the highly attractive effects of specific amino acids in carp fishing. Unlike most cases where adding a liquid component to the PVA bag produces quick but short-lived results, this mix was designed to ensure long-lasting effectiveness while maintaining its 100% immediate impact. This is especially beneficial when carp are not actively feeding or are not close to the targeted fishing area.

What makes this product unique is the incorporation of a special liquid component based on a unique tiger nut extract. This extends the effect over a longer period while preserving its instant attraction. The mix also includes larger grains of salt and pellets with varying protein content and dissolution times. This allows the amino acid component to remain effective for up to ten to 20 minutes, which is a significant duration for PVA bag fishing and especially rapid fishing sessions.

Please tell us about the development of The One Amino Bag Pellet Mix.
I studied carp digestion and feeding behaviour linked to different factors in the water including temperature, oxygen level and protein needs. Together with Szilard Kovacs, The One Brand Manager, we focused on developing more natural/sustainable food for carp fishing. We believe it is the right direct to go in terms of the environment and gives us an advantage over our rivals in the competitive business of producing carp baits.

Amino acids present a huge attraction to carp, encouraging them to feed aggressively on the natural source in the water on acids like Lysine, Methionine and Valine. After collecting as much information as possible, the next task was to develop the bait for the most important technique in modern carp fishing – PVA bag fishing. It is a very effective method of fishing because the main bait mix or liquids can be placed near the hook, quickly attracting carp.

In the beginning of the development we used amino acid-laced liquids, but they dispersed into the water quickly, losing their attraction within minutes after the PVA bag had hit the water. That worked well if fish were close to your fishing spot, but if you needed to wait up to half an hour or more to attract fish, the liquids lost their attraction. To overcome this we developed a process where we can solidify the amino acid mix into a particle form that can be released gradually for up to 40 minutes – an important factor especially during competition fishing.

What were you looking to achieve?
Catching fish in the fastest time possible! PVA bag fishing is a technique that already delivers this, but making it even more efficient was our aim. This mix guarantees a better bait presentation in an environmentally-friendly environment that is full of amino acid attractants for carp. The bait maintains its appeal for longer periods compared to liquids used in the past.

When is the best time to use them?
There are four variations that start with the same base mix, but use different content and quantities of amino acids. Each are distinguished by different colours – Red, Orange, Green and Yellow. Best seasons for each are: Spring – Red and Yellow; Summer – Green, Red and Orange; Autumn – Yellow and Green.

What has been the reaction of anglers?
Feedback has been positive. Everyone was surprised by the innovative idea to crystalise amino acids and use them in a solid form for PVA bag fishing. Even our main competitors congratulated us on our achievement.

What about future developments?
We already have some ideas based on the crystalised version of amino acids and are looking at developing it for Spomb feeding. We don’t want to say too much, but I can reveal that results during testing are promising.
