And the cold front comes

In summertime, the weather forecast is always bad for the angler. If it tells good weather, it means we will get a heat alarm and just sweat on the bank silently. If the forecast is bad, then it is good for fishes but we will get wet in the rain. Just for fun of course. The worst is when the weather changes. In this time fishes doesn't want to eat, and we are sweating in the rain or something similar to this. Of course, this can change frequently, so the raincoat getting too warm sometimes, while we are getting cold in the second moment.

Grey clouds on the horizont

So at the end, fishing in summer is not the easiest thing. I like fishing, did I tell it before? In the middle of June, I get exactly the same changing weather. I got wet two times trough the morning, while the Sun played hide-and-seek with us continuously above the gray clouds.

Good Carp Expert groundbait and baitcorn

After mixing, it is easy to see the big grains in the groundbait.
Carps really likes it.

And the cold front arrived. Getting any takes within these conditions is quite a hard thing, isn't it? I planned to catch carp today. The are extremely front sensitive, but let's see my groundbait first. I chose a bigger grain groundbait with the matching liquid flavor, targeted to carps directly. The Carp Expert Golden Carp groundbait was the perfect choice for today, furthermore I used the Carp Expert luquid flavor dedicated for carp fishing, I add some water to the liquid as well. The groundbait contains several stewed and grounded grains, which are the most attractive for carps. I wanted to try several baits during the day. I chose carp pellets, corn and maggots as well. And what was the result at the end of the session? I will tell you.

Halibut based spice flavor pellet

Dipped Carp pellet

I started fishing at half past seven. I saw some grey cloud on the horizon, and I though this will be not the best fishing day of my life. I made two initial bailing-in in front of me. The first one was in the deep area of the lake around 40 meters from me while the other one was located in the shallow water around 15 meters from me. The rig was a simple free running one on the closer and a distance casting one on the far bailing-in. Ok nice, but why should I use such a rig for 40 meters? Good question! Because of the wind. This type of rig flies like an arrow, resists to the wind and it is possible to cast accurately even in stormy weather. The less tangle is really a plus. Simple but great rig!

This strawberry flavor pellet is also halibut based

This dipped pellet is a good choice for crucian carps

I dont have any takes for hours on the far bailing-in. No movements on the feeder tip. I changed the bait continuously in every half hour. I try out pellets, mini boilies, different type of corn, but except some false swimming, I cant get anything. But the other rod! I used a sandwich made from corn and maggots, Used longer hooklenght and, of course much smaller hook. Palm size crucian carps liked very much and took my bait continuously.

The scopex soft pellet is a real jolly joker.

Everybody knows that carps likes strawberry corn

It is worth to mix colors and flavors.
One piece strawberry and another honey corn is a showy and tasty bait

I cast, the take came immediately, I catch a small silverfish in every minute I guess. Sometimes a smaller carp was also caught by me. After some time it was enough from silverfish, so I stopped using maggots, I put one or two grain of flavored corn to the hook. But it was useless, my crucian carps get the corn bait just before the change, so the feeder tip moved all the time. Soon I need to mix another kilogram of groundbait, because I ran out of the firs portion thanks to the crucians.

Tigernuts is good for carp as well, not just grasscarps likes it

One of the best hookbait is two maggots and
one single corn on the hook

To be frank, this non-stop action was really enjoyable, but after half past eleven, I decided that it is enough from catching crucians, let's catch real carps somehow. For this time I get the knowledge about the terrain of the lake bed before me, so I had some thoughts about the carps swimming way. But there was the cold front, I need to keep this in mind. I was watching the water surface, if there is any sighn about the movements, but nothing. My last chance was the weed on the other side of the bank. I started to cast both rigs with different baits to the zone of one or two meters from this bank. I crossed my fingers and wait for the miracle.

Choosing the good bait is the essential part of success

The clouds were gone and the sky was blue like after a storm. It was a magic moment. The first take was on the lighter rig, as almost always. The fish was really hungry, he curved the tip, than wanted to take the whole rod with him from the pod. I cant belive what I see really. But to be frank, I was waiting for this trough the morning. After the strike, I had my fish in my hands within minutes. The lighter rods - like the Extreme Match Feeder – make the fish tired so quickly, while they keep the contact with him continuously, therefore there is no chance to lost a fish due to the light rig or or even a small hook. The situation was the same.

While the Extreme Match-Feeder medium action rod
is a true allrounder feeder
After the landing I saw that the hook caught the fish at the lower lip of the fish and held it safely. In case of a stiff, harder rod, the possibility to lost the fish is much greater, especially if he is not tired when arrives to the landing net. This is a significant problem when we are fishing in close or maybe medium range, so be cautious and use lighter rods with parabolic action, which holds the fish more securely and follow every movement of it.

I a reel is durable enough for spinning...

...than it would be perfect for feeder fishing.
Between midday and two o'clock I catch two carps. After taking the final photograph, all fishes get back their freedom. While I put together my equipment, I try to think on the day. What did I on the right way and what was wrong, what do I need to change in the future? My first conclusion was that I can catch carp even during the cold front, of course I had less takes, but if we are able to find the fishes and offer the bait next to their mouth, we can catch them. After this I thought on my rod. I caught small crucian carps and bigger carps with the same rod, reel, and feeder tip in continuously changing windy conditions, in rain, while I just changed the hook and the hooklenght. If the rod – practically – don not have any lower border, where is the upper border of power? In the meantime I put all the stuff into the car and decide that I have to try out this on my own. If you are curious for it, join me next time as well!

Weight of some hours fishing

And the catch. If the end is good, than everything is good!

Under the colorful coat of this rod, you find a true workhorse. It is indeed a slim rod made of IM8 carbon with enough power in reserve. The neoprene handle is a delight to touch. During fishing, the rod becomes your elongated forearm, which helps you detect every shy bite and vibration of your lure. Although it is a strong fishing rod, it is not heavy at all. Yes, I am talking about the latest spinning rod family of Energo Team, namely, Wizard Classic Jig and Drop Shot rods. The...

After months of using these rods, I can safely say that they satisfy all my needs when it comes to ultra light spinning. Fishing with little soft baits cannot be more enjoyable, and, of course, let’s not forget about wobblers either. I’m not exaggerating –...

Learning more about Nase and Rubin Bolo Rods
Published: 2015. October 19. | Source: Halmos Mihály | News

t Nowadays, it is not easy for a new Bolognese rod to make a name for itself. It should be either at a reasonable price or of outstanding quality to win anglers’ sympathy. Unfortunately, these two criteria rarely meet. Energo Team’s Rubin Bolo has been widely used for years not just by Hungarian but foreign anglers, too. However, ET Nase Bolo, which made its debut in spring 2015, is considered a novelty.   Rubin Bolo is a real workhorse. Nase Bolo,...

Its price category reflects its unique features.  If I had to rank Energo Team’s rods I would definitely put Blade-Tanaka-Nase bolognese rods to the first three...
