In addition to trade, Energofish Ltd. places great emphasis on environmental and freshwater protection. Since 2012, we have been involved in research and development projects with the main purpose of improving water quality and protecting fish stocks. This year, you can meet us at the competition of UltraBalaton , where you can learn about our environment friendly efforts and win valuable and useful prizes.
Lake Balaton is Hungary's largest still water, so we love it as anglers and runners alike, we enriched in both sports with many memories thanks to Balaton. We want to be there to introduce visitors to the race to eco-friendly fishing opportunities, products and brands
Our Go green products have been on the shelves since 2019
One of our main ambitions is to replace lead-containing fishing accessories, as thousands of tons of lead enter into our waters every year, causing enormous damage to our environment because of its continuous presence in the aquatic ecosystem. Lead in the EU fishing tackle trade is estimated to be consumed in the range of 6000-8000 tonnes/year and its toxicity is undisputed.
Lead is considered a highly carcinogenic toxic element, the accumulation of which has been clearly demonstrated. In natural watercourses, accumulation in fish liver can be as high as 225%, with significant concentrations of lead already detectable in the bloodstream. In addition to the lead load, there are also significant levels of artificial plastic-based sources of pollution. These materials are mainly used as bait (rubber corn, rubber maggot), which also contain significant amounts of dyes. Energofish Ltd. is working to replace the above-mentioned plastic and plastic fishing lures with lead-containing accessories.
In 2013, the Hungary-based Energofish Ltd. launched the naturally biodegradable Benzar Jelly Baits product line. Energofish Ltd. is in the process of increasing its green product offerings to Europe's anglers.
Last year we took a big step forward with the launch of the Go Green brand. Nature-friendly fishing products are now available to everyone.
As a first step, we replaced the wide-stone leads used in carp fishing with zinc weights, which proved very popular with anglers.
Green packaging solutions
In addition to trade, our company also strives to protect the environment in its internal life. We are constantly replacing our packaging materials with biodegradable ones and we have an in-house selective waste collection system. When purchasing office equipment, it is important to us that a large proportion of it is made from recycled materials. We also promote the importance of environmental protection among our partners, which would make us unique in Hungary in the industry in promoting such environmental protection.
We have also introduced green packaging, which has eliminated single-use plastic bags and replaced them with textile bags.
We have already introduced our new maggot boxes, which are fully biodegradable, replacing the plastic maggot and worm boxes that would end up in the beds of lakes or rivers.
The tackle of spin fishing has become extremely diverse today, and this applies to rods as well. Rods can be specifically selected based on their characteristics and the species of fish, so that we can fish with the most suitable rod for the given technique. Our latest Edge Spin series is recommended to anglers who prefer taut, distinctive, swift rods, whether it's for catfish or zander fishing. The Edge Spin is available in 3 different sizes and with 3 different casting...
