Making PVA stockings quickly and economically

With some practice, you can make PVA stockings in the blink of an eye – it hardly takes more time than preparing a method rig. After knotting the end of the PVA, fill it with the bait you are planning to use. Then, with the help of the plunger, make it as dense as you wish. Depending on the size of the stocking and your hand, unroll enough PVA to form a loop, and just simply tie it (as a simple overhand knot). As the loop is not tight yet, you can position it to the right place by loosening and pulling the end of the loop. Finally, grab and pull the knot to make it ready. You can economize on PVA if you tie another knot few centimeters after the original one. Thanks to the second knot, you can immediately fill the PVA with the next portion of seeds, pellets or boilies. You can put the PVA stocking straight into the PVA bag, or you can use a baiting needle and pull the hooklength through it.

Among Carp Expert products you can find meshes with different dissolve time, and three different types of diameter and structure, so you can always find the best PVA type for the fishing situation and the baiting method. Considering the weave of the mesh, we can differentiate between three major types "micro", "hexa mesh", and "anti raffeling". Their diameters are 25 mm, 35 mm, and 45 mm, respectively. Mesh refills are available for all three types.

The 45 mm version can be an excellent choice for big sized boilies, pellets and bait boat fishing when you want to deliver a large amount of bait around your hook. On the other hand, the 35 mm version is a universal mesh which can be effective in all kinds of fishing situations. Finally, the 25 mm version is for smaller stockings, especially when you’re distance fishing.

In the case of bigger sized baits, we recommend using the "hexa mesh" or the "anti raffeling". The material of the latter one is extremely durable, so it might be a good idea to use it with sharp edged pellets. The "micro" offers an excellent alternative to delivering small seeds, pellets and live bait to your feed area.

TIP – making flavors more intense to catch more fish!

If you fill your PVA mesh with intensively dissolving strongly aromatized pellets, which make a huge cloud in the water, you are able to attract the fish to your hook. You can enhance the effect of your bait by using dips. Note that the PVA mesh can be filled with attractive seeds for big fish. In this case, don’t forget to get rid of the water on the surface of the seeds by putting them into salt or dry ground bait

A few words on dissolving

Both the position of the hook bait and the ground bait have a considerable impact on the effectiveness of fishing. Therefore, the most important feature of PVA meshes is dissolve time. If the mesh dissolves before it’s due, it spreads on a wider area. This prevents you from feeding directly around your hook, which would be the most important thing in using PVAs. Unfortunately, the dissolve time depends on the temperature of the water. The development of the Carp Expert PVA mesh was supported by lab tests and experiments carried out in the field, so that anglers can choose the proper type considering the current factors. There are three major types available: normal, slow and fast dissolving.

The dissolve diagram reveals that above 20 Celsius all three types of PVA mesh show similar dissolve time. However, with the decrease of temperature, the characteristics of the different meshes become more relevant. The question arises: how can we put all this theory into practice? The answer is fairly simple. In deep waters like in quarry lakes, the slow dissolving version could be the best even in the summer. Your bait will be right around your feed for sure. On the other hand, when the temperature of the water is falling, the fast version is the best choice, because it makes fishing faster.
