I was waiting the September. The leaves of the trees are getting more and more colourful, the dogdays are over and the cooler, foggy dawns are coming. In these times, we can catch more carp at the middle of the day, inspite of the summer warm months. The Fall is the best time for fishing.

I was not alone on the waterfront

The time has come for our first Fall fishing with my brother in law. For the event I choose a close distance but promising lake called Hajnal fishing lake. It is a young and relatively small lake, but has many many beautiful carp and roach. The landscape around the lake is nice, perfect to spend some hours in good air.

I choose a typical light float rod for catch some nice fish, the ET Slider Match. I like the slim blanc of it, also the movable (but very stable) reel bed. The casting weight is only 2-8 gram. For the first looking it seems extremely soft, but this don’t means that it is weak too! I used this light rod calmly, because I know that the river bed is quite smooth. I would have been using a blanc with stronger spine on a harder terrain.

It is important to use the sieve to make the groundbait homogeneous.

The Cralusso wagglers are simple but versatile floats.

The reel was my several times used ET Fighter Match. I like this type of brake system, because it gives the line smoothly. It is essential if we are using thin lines for catch silverfish or cautious carp.

To be hones, I did not have much experience with light float rods. My first thought was that I make a a bailing-in at 15 meters from the coast because it will be easy to cast this distance with the light rod. I made my rigs. I used a 6 gram Cralusso UFO, which is a hard and durable float with synthetic body. I removed all the weights from the float and used it as a slider. The water was 2 meters deep, therefore it was unique to use the float on this way, but I want to practice.

It was also unique and incredible, when I was casting, the float just flew and flew over the air, like it didn’t want to wall of anytime. After 30 meters I catch the line on the spool to hang out the rig on the surface of the water. My first thought was that this is not a short distance.

Slim blank for the most sensitive angling

My preconception was totally different from the real life experience. The rod was working like a whip at casting, because of this, I can cast smaller floats to greater distances without any fast or strong movements. But I have to be aware for any tangles, which can be more frequent thanks to the thin tip and mainlines. Hold the mainline tight until hooking the bait or at casting. This is very important!

In the meantime the wind was coming - crosswind of course -. Gabor’s patience was rewarding. He catch beautiful carp with some garlic pellets. I used some smaller pellets and also some differently tasted corn for hookbait and I caught some nice little fellow fishes. I like pellets and corn, because they does not needs any special conditions.

I stopped the slider adapter with a single shot

There was some winds, so I set the main leads just next to the swivel.

My initial plan was to use a selective method tho catch more bigger carp and leave the small ones, but this time it looks it was not working very well. To be honest, It was not working. I was catching the small fishes one by another, without any chance to test the rod on a strong one.

After some weeks after I knew that the best bait would be the maggots with one corn on the hook. This bait is extremely attractive for carps (in Hungary), because it has a great corn taste and it moves as well. So it affects the eyes and tasting too.

Don’t be aftaid to change the bait if you dont have any take for a while. Our fellow fishes eats some types more likely than the others, but this also changes in time. The living, moving hookbait is the best choice in every time. It is worth to have some maggots or casters anytime.

Catching even a small fish with this rod is a great feeling. The blanc mediates all the fish movements and gave us an extremely intensive experience. I offer this rod to anybody, who wants to feel the fish on the end of the line. It will be great!
