The Beluga Sturgeon (huso huso) is a critically endangered species of the sturgeon family. Growing to around 1600kg and more than 7 meters in length. It is the third largest of the largest fish species in the world. It is found primarily in the basins of the Caspian and Black seas and was once found in the Adriatic. It feeds mainly on large fish, molluscs and crustaceans. Historically, it was harvested for its caviar but is now a protected species.
